CWC Theater Audition Call: The Signal Season of Dummy Hoy - Tuesday, August 26
We will be producing the play, "The Signal Season of Dummy Hoy" This show is one of my favorites. Over a year ago a student in Theatrical Backgrounds Drama II did a dramaturgy project on this show and it blew my mind. I asked this student if they would like to direct it one day and they responded in the affirmative so this Fall Madeline Dike will be directing this work. Sarah Dike will be our ASL consultant, and I will be helping to produce it. Ladies and Gentlemen we are having a student directed production at Central Wyoming College...I'm so excited to announce that.
What is this play about, here is some more information: In 1886 William Ellsworth "Dummy" Hoy was the first deaf baseball player to join a minor league baseball team. With a no-nonsense manager, players with colorful personalities, and a curious reporter, Dummy struggles to communicate with those around him. After being recruited to a team in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, he quickly became one of the best hitters on the team; however he faced communication issues due to the language barrier. As a bilingual production the Signal Season of Dummy Hoy will be performed in both English and American Sign Language. This play tackles difficult subjects such as communication and ableism in a different era. I hope you all come and audition. It's going to be a spectacular show!
Auditions are on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 6 pm - 9 pm
Rehearsals will run August 27, 2025 - September 24, 2025 and performances will be September 25, 26, 27, and 28 in the CWC Student Center Little Theatre.

PAWS for Life: 'Furry Field Trip' Program
Paws for Life Animal League is excited to announce our "Furry Field Trip" program!
Give a shelter dog a break from the kennel and some much-needed socialization by taking them on an adventure. You can spend a couple of hours, a full day, or even have a sleepover!
Imagine the fun:
- A trip to the dog park
- A long walk or hike
- A special treat like a "pup cup"
- A pup-friendly stop at McDonald's
- A cozy overnight sleepover
Not only will you be giving a deserving dog a great time, but you'll also be helping them become more social and adoptable. Be sure to snap some pictures of your adventure so we can share them on our social media!
We'll provide you with a leash, collar, water, a water bowl, toys, and treats. If you're doing a sleepover, we'll also provide food. All you need is your own transportation and a way to take photos.
To get started, simply stop by the shelter to fill out volunteer paperwork. You can also call or message us if you have any questions.
Our hours are:
Tuesday - Friday: 12 PM - 5 PM
Saturday: 10 AM - 1 PM
We can't wait for you to join us on a "Furry Field Trip"!
